Luís Urbano Afonso Born in 1972. Teaches at the Faculdade de Letras of the Universidade de Lisboa since 1997. Teaches courses on Medieval Art, Iconography/Iconology, Painting Studies and Art Markets. Author of the books Convento de S. Francisco de Leiria. Estudo monográfico (2003), O Ser e o Tempo. As Idades do Homem no Gótico Português (2003) and A Pintura Mural Portuguesa entre o Gótico Internacional e o Fim do Renascimento: Formas, Significados, Funções (2009). Editor of the book Out of the Stream. Studies in Medieval and Renaissance Mural Painting (2007). Has published in several journals including The Medieval History Journal, Artis, Monumentos, eHumanista. Journal of Iberian Studies, Mediterranean Studies, Mínia, South African Journal of Art History, International Journal of Conservation Science, Património/Estudos, Almansor, and Mitteilungen der Carl Justi Vereinigung. Member of the advisory board of the art history journals Goya. Revista de Arte, South African Journal of Art History and Artis.
